Hybrid Microgrid Controllers (Basic training)

Face-to-face course

Hybrid Microgrid Controllers (Basic training)
Location: Prague 7, U Uranie 1612/14a, 17000, Czech Republic
Training fee: 900 EUR per person
Capacity: 12 participants

Transitioning to more sustainable energy sources is at the top of the power generation and energy management agenda. This specialized course offers an introduction to hybrid microgrid controllers, highlighting their key features and practical applications. The course includes an overview of InteliConfig, covers the fundamentals of configuring InteliNeo 5500/6000 controllers for specific control functions, and concludes with hands-on simulations using our Starter Kits.

This course is suitable for customers who are new to the hybrid microgrid segment or are unfamiliar with ComAp products and applications.

After successfully completing this training course, participants will receive a ComAp certificate of completion. Certificates are issued at all ComAp training locations worldwide, and we ensure the same standard of knowledge and expertise everywhere.

Agenda

The hands-on training takes place at our modern training facility at ComAp headquarters (U Uranie 1612/14a, Prague 7 - Holešovice).

DAY 1
09:00 – 12:00

Hybrid microgrid overview

Basics of hybrid microgrids (HMG): an explanation of energy sources (renewables, generators, batteries, grid), operational modes, and the benefits and challenges of hybrid microgrid systems. The session also provides an overview of ComAp's HMG product portfolio – including InteliNeo controllers, accessories, and software tools – and outlines key functions such as energy management, power conversion, system compatibility, and practical applications in both on-grid and off-grid scenarios.

12:00 – 13:00 Lunch break
12:45 – 16:00 Basics of configuration
Practical guide to configuring and programming hybrid microgrid controllers and integrating them with energy sources such as BESS, PV, gen-sets, and mains.

DAY 2
09:00 – 12:00 Communication
Fundamentals of communication in hybrid microgrid systems, detailing the interfaces and protocols such as Modbus and SunSpec used for connecting controllers, power conversion systems, and third-party devices. The session also covers cybersecurity practices, user management, firewall configuration, and practical steps for establishing secure and reliable communication between system components, with hands-on exercises for Ethernet, AirGate, and inverter integration.
12:00 – 13:00  Lunch break
13:00 – 16:30 PLC Editor
This session covers essential topics such as controller setup, application selection, power management, protection settings, and the use of the PLC Editor for custom logic, automation, and troubleshooting.

DAY 3
09:00 – 12:00 InteliSCADA & WebSupervisor
Introduction to SCADA monitoring and practical training in screen design using InteliSCADA. Basics of WebSupervisor
12:00 – 13:00  Lunch break
13:00 – 16:00

Starter Kit simulations, test and feedback

Hands-on simulation exercises for hybrid microgrid systems, using the Starter Kits to explore various operational scenarios. Participants configure and test island and parallel operation, power management, dynamic spinning reserve, seamless transitions between grid and island modes, and renewable energy curtailment.

Final test with explanation and feedback
