ComAp collaborated with their esteemed customer Damen, one of the world’s leading shipbuilders, to implement a comprehensive power management system (PMS) capable of handling both AC and DC buses supplied from various sources for Damen’s Waterbus 2907 Hybrid. The key challenge of the project was to ensure seamless cooperation between the AC and DC systems while also enabling external control of the overall power infrastructure.
To meet this need, ComAp leveraged its extensive experience in AC and DC power management, delivering a fully integrated solution tailored to Damen’s specific requirements. The system design closely followed Damen’s functional description, with only minor adjustments suggested and implemented by ComAp.
The scope of supply per vessel included seven InteliSys NTC BaseBox controllers integrated with the vessel's gensets, alongside two InteliVision 13Touch displays and four InteliGateway 300 communication devices to facilitate full power management and monitoring of the system. ComAp also provided software customised to Damen’s specifications and carried out the commissioning of the pilot vessel.
The result of the project is a fully operational power management system (PMS) that ensures reliable cooperation between AC and DC buses, with high levels of customisability and control. Thanks to ComAp’s power management solution, Damen’s Waterbus vessel not only meets its technical and operational needs but also offers comprehensive monitoring and management over the system’s components.
